We hear you Northern Michigan: our region is in love with food, wine, cooking and entertaining. In honor of those worthy passions, Northern Home & Cottage is co-producing the Ultimate Up North Kitchen Tour—a tribute to the room that is the heart, hive and control center of all of those deliciously wonderful things. After over a year of planning, of scouring Northwest Michigan for cool kitchens in all sizes and styles, after pulling together the signs, lining up volunteers and a million other details that make an event like this tick, The Ultimate Up North Kitchen Tour is happening Saturday, November 1. To purchase your ticket (which includes directions to the kitchens) go to Mynorth.com/store. Mark the date on your calendar—the day when 19 homeowners with spectacular kitchens from Cheboygan to Manistee let you in for a peek. For a map and directions to the kitchens, see below.
Our partner in this event is the Northern Michigan chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association, a group of dynamic designers at the forefront of their industry. Given the energy in this chapter, it comes as no surprise that the current president of NKBA nationwide, Sara Busby, came out of this Northern Michigan group. You’ll see two of Busby’s kitchens on the tour.
In fact, each of these 19 kitchens was designed by an NKBA designer who will be on hand the day of the tour to explain how they worked their magic. Enchanted by corbels, moldings and granite patterns? Want to see how a dinky old-cottage kitchen was transformed into something you’d find in a gracious country home? Ever thought of mixing up your cabinetry finishes? We’ve got kitchens for you to see. You might also run into Steve Cobb, the regional rep for our tour sponsor, Sub-Zero Wolf Appliances, showing off the bells, whistles and uber-efficiency of Sub-Zero refrigerators and Wolf ranges, hoods and ovens.
The kitchens are grouped so that anywhere you leave from in Northwest Michigan you should be able to make it to about half of them easily—the ticket price, $10 ($12 the day of) was structured accordingly. Use the Kitchen Tour Guide section of this issue to help you map out your day.
Proceeds from ticket sales for this tour benefit the NKBA scholarship fund and two Northern Michigan chapters of Habitat for Humanity.
Round up your friends and get your tickets—either online at MyNorth.com/Store, or at any of the locations listed below.
